Accomplishments - 2006

40,000 bulbs were planted by hundreds of community volunteers at:

  • 39 City Parks
  • 13 Toronto Community Housing locations
  • 5 Public Schools
  • 3 Daycares
  • 6 Faith community locations
  • 3 Shelters
  • 1 Community agency
  • 3 Community Gardens

Youth Leadership Programs:

  • 75 youth were involved in the BULBS Youth Leadership program
  • Driftwood Youth Council (Jane\Finch)
  • East Scarborough Boys and Girls Club (Kingston\Galloway)
  • East Scarborough Storefront Youth Volunteers(Kingston\Galloway)
  • Albion Boys and Girls Club (Jamestown)

Daffodil Bulbs:

Long lasting daffodil bulbs were planted in permanent beds. They could continue to bloom for up to 70 years without need for further care. (high resolution images available upon request)

  • Carleton: A large cupped daffodil, two-toned yellow, with a darker yellow trumpet (or cup) set in a lighter yellow perianth. Has a vanilla fragrance and is renowned for its hardiness and ability to become perennial anywhere. Known as the 'World's most popular daffodil." 17" tall.
  • Ice Follies: A large cupped daffodil with a bright yellow trumpet (that matures ivory) set in a creamy white perianth. One of the best perennials. 15" tall.
  • Fortune: A light orange cup with a bright yellow perianth. Very good as a perennial. 17" tall.
  • Thalia: Two to three small flowers per stem. Fragrant. Pure white cup and perianth. Considered a heirloom variety. Good for perennial planting.
